Royal couple make first public appearance since engagement

Britain's Prince William and his fiancee Kate Middleton arrive at a charity gala on Saturday.

Prince William and fiance Kate Middleton braved the cold on Saturday night and attended a cancer charity fundraiser in Norfolk. The event marked the first time the pair appeared together in public since the announcement of their engagement in November.

Kate wore an elegant black-and-white dress cut just above the knee to the "Christmas Spectacular," and even risked towering high heels despite the icy weather. The event raised money for a children's cancer unit at a Cambridge hospital.
