Vote: Does commemorative coin do couple justice?

BWE.tv / Royal Mint

Britain’s Royal Mint released a new coin to celebrate the royal engagement – and fans are a bit critical of Will and Kate's likeness.

Based on a photo of the couple taken at a polo match several years ago, the coin – minted in both gold and silver – was reportedly approved by Prince William and the Queen.

The internet, however, is showing no such approval rate. The Washington Post thinks they resemble Barbara Bush and Al Gore III and their readers suggested Laura Linney and Josh Duhamel. BWE was a little less forgiving, claiming Middleton looks like a “55-year-old yoga instructor,” while one UK critic described the effort as “lazy and insipid.”

The new coin does not in the slightest resemble William & Kate. The likeness intended wasn't accomplished.

How or why the Prince or the Queen saw it as acceptable must have simply boiled down to personal taste.

I for one would not go looking for the souvenir.
