Some folks are taking this wedding more seriously than others. Take Estibalis Chavez, 19, for example: The Mexican teen hasn't eaten for the past eight days — consuming only water — in hopes that her bizarre, pathetic stunt will force Will and Kate to invite her to their exclusive wedding celebration. (Nothing says "good times" quite like a hunger striker!)
According to a Reuters report, Chavez has been camped in a blue tent outside the British Embassy in Mexico City, handing out fliers to strangers. "Are they going to let me die just because they wouldn't give me an invitation to the royal wedding?" Chavez wrote on one of the fliers. "This is my only dream," read another next to a picture of the smiling royal couple.
Chavez says her unconventional campaign was inspired by her appreciation for Princess Diana. "I think she was one of the most interesting women in history, and one of the best and most beautiful," she told Reuters. "My mother was a big fan of Lady Di too and she died when I was born, so I promised myself I would attend her son's wedding."
It's a cause the teen doesn't seem to be giving up on, going so far as to blame the British Embassy for not intervening. "The embassy could talk to Britain for me but they haven't," she said. "But I'm going to stay here until I can't go on."
