  • Get to know the U.S. charity on Will and Kate's wedding list

What do you get the couple that has everything? Nothing — which is precisely how Prince William and Kate Middleton want it. The thoughtful royals have asked well-wishers to donate money to charities they care about instead of buying gifts.

One U.S.-based charity made it to the quintessentially English couple's list: Peace Players, which uses basketball to bring children together, educating and inspiring young people in divided communities. Find out more about the inspiring organization:

  • Kate and Harry forever? Souvenir mug immortalizes wrong couple

    guandongenterprisesltd.com

“I, Catherine, take thee, Harry - uh, I mean William - to be…”

Before we go starting any rumors, we should mention that Kate, the bride-to-be of Prince William, has not now, nor ever been reported to be involved with Prince Harry. So it seems strange that any company would mix up the brothers’ photos on royal wedding souvenirs.

But that’s exactly what Guandong Enterprises has done on a souvenir mug, where the featured photos of Catherine and “Will,” are actually Catherine and Harry.

“Crafted in the finest bone china, it features an exquisite design of the happy couple with ornate gold detailing to honour this great moment in history,” reads the website, where one can purchase the mug for £9.99, or $16. “Please be our guests to own this esteemed, limited edition heirloom to celebrate with your work associates, friends, family and loved ones on 29th April 2011.”

Or is this a spoof after all, as Britain’s Telegraph newspaper suggests? The company is registered in the UK and seems to sell no other products.

Either way, this is one piece of royal wedding memorabilia that certainly stands out from the traditional tea towels and tea cups.

Baker Michelle Wibowo spent 80 hours sculpting a tasty homage to Prince William and equally sweet Kate Middleton for the Ideal Home Show Cake competetion. The fruitcake, a royal twist on the classic tiered wedding cake, is covered in apricot jam and made up of more than 20 pounds of marzipan and 10 pounds of icing sugar.

"It was really a challenge for me to do this cake," Wibowo wrote on her Website. "It's a hard work, but I really enjoyed making it."

  • Prince William dresses down, sports sneakers on lunch date

    Getty Images file

Prince William with Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key on a visit to Kapiti Island, New Zealand on Jan. 18, 2010. The prince's relaxed demeanor was highlighted by his wardrobe choice of sneakers and chinos.

It’s amazing what a ring will do for a woman. In just a few short months, Kate has gone from being Waity Katie, to style icon extraordinaire. Her every look is copied and sells out within days. But what about her husband-to-be, also known as the second in line to the throne? For a media willing to dissect each and every detail of Kate’s wardrobe – from earrings to stockings – the chattering classes are somewhat silent when it comes to William.

On Sunday, the prince was spotted wearing “trainers” – that’s sneakers, for Americans – at one of London’s most exclusive restaurants. Forget the navy-blue suit in which he so often appears  - it was weekend wear all the way for the royal, who paired his gym shoes with a blue V-neck sweater, collared shirt and khaki trousers.

Together with his bride-to-be and her sister Pippa, the trio dined in one of Mosimann’s private dining rooms, according to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

It wasn’t the first time that William appeared wearing sneakers in public. Last year, on a visit to New Zealand, the prince arrived at Kapiti Island with Prime Minister John Key, wearing his trusty Asics – seemingly the same ones he wore to lunch on Sunday.

No doubt his royal highness will be more formally dressed on April 29. The only unanswered question is what uniform he will choose.

Royal watchers were up in arms after the prince sported sneakers at a fancy lunch with fiancee Kate Middleton at a posh London restaurant. NBC's Anne Thompson reports.

  • Blunt was only 'kidding' about royal wedding

James Blunt arrives through the audience to perform on stage at the Hallenstadion on March 11, 2011 in Zurich, Switzerland. (Getty)

As if debunking royal wedding rumors wasn’t hard enough, it seems James Blunt thinks a few "jokes" wouldn’t cause any harm. Yesterday, it was reported that the singer snagged a surprising gig at Prince William and Kate Middleton's nuptials – an honor only slightly above a wedding usher.

“I'm actually playing," Blunt told Italian news channel SkyTG24. "I'm not singing, I'm playing the church organ there."

However, after several news outlets jumped on the news, Blunt’s representative clarified his statement, explaining that the “You’re Beautiful” singer was only kidding around. In fact, he’ll be nowhere near the royal wedding on April 29 – he’ll be on tour in the U.S.

Not sure who we can blame here (reckless celebrities? An insufficient sense of humor? Reporters immune to sarcasm?) but either way, let’s hope this is the last of the royal wedding musician gossip. We need some facts –  preferably about Paul McCartney.

  • James Blunt: I'll play at royal wedding

James Blunt performs at the Hallenstadion on March 11, 2011 in Zurich, Switzerland. (Getty)

Will Kate Middleton get a live rendition of the 2005 hit "You're Beautiful"?

    Not exactly.

Singer and former British army officer James Blunt confirmed he'll rest his voice at Prince William and Kate Middleton's April 29 nuptials. "I'm actually playing. I'm not singing, I'm playing the church organ there," he told Italian news channel SkyTG24.

As for the score, the queen's composer Sir Peter Maxwell Davies - the musical equivalent of a poet laureate - said he'll write an original piece with a "Scottish feel" for the young couple. "I think wedding music should reflect what matters to the couple and in William and Catherine's case Scotland is very much part of their love story," Davies said in November. "It is where it began and blossomed after all."

  • Can't afford hotel for royal wedding? Bring a tent

A mock-up of what “Camp Royale” will look like during the royal wedding weekend. The “big royal wedding sleepover” on south London’s Clapham Common will cater for up to 10,500 people between April 28 and May 1.

Royal fans who want to come to London to watch next month's wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton but cannot afford an expensive hotel can camp out at a specially created campsite instead.

"Camp Royale," to be set up on Clapham Common in south London, is offering what it says is a cheap alternative for those who want to be in the British capital for the celebrations to mark the marriage on April 29.

The "Big Royal Wedding Sleepover," as it calls itself, will be open from April 28 until May 1 at a cost of 75 pounds, or about $120, for three nights.

Organisers say the campsite will boast hot showers 24 hours a day, clean toilets, and round the clock security teams, mobile phone charge points and in typically British style, free cups of tea.

  • Mazel tov! Kate and Will to receive Jewish wedding scroll

    Ariel Schalit / AP

Artist Mike Horton presents a scroll written in the style of a Ketubah, a traditional Jewish wedding scroll, he made for Britain's Prince William and fiance Kate Middleton's upcoming royal wedding, to Britain's Ambassador to Israel Matthew Gould, in Ramat Gan, Israel.

Britain's newest royal couple is receiving an unusual wedding gift: A Jewish-style marriage contract.

Michael Horton, a British-born Israeli, designed the intricately illustrated Ketubah, or wedding contract, for Prince William and Kate Middleton, who wedding is set for April 29.

The custom-made contract in Hebrew and English combines traditional language with egalitarian themes, without religious references. The scroll reads, "May we remain committed to each other's physical and mental well-being, and to each other's emotional and spiritual growth." British Ambassador Matthew Gould pledged Thursday to deliver it to the couple, calling it "an extremely appropriate and lovely gift."

The traditional Ketubah stipulates the responsibilities of the groom to the bride and protects her if the union ends.

  • Is Kate changing her shopping ways?

    PAUL MCERLANE / EPA

Prince William and Kate Middleton arrive at Belfast's City Hall on Tuesday.

Is Kate going designer? That’s the question of the week after the princess-to-be stepped out in Belfast wearing a $1,040 Burberry coat.

So far, Kate’s fashion choices have shown her to be a model of accessibility. The white Reiss Nanette dress that she wore in her engagement photos, for example, retailed for $310, while the blue Issa dress she wore to announce her betrothal was priced at about $535. Not cheap, but certainly not the price of designer duds.

But her choice of Burberry -- a higher-end designer often chosen by the royals -- may signal a desire to go up-market as she gets closer and closer to joining the royal family. Diana, her fiancee’s mother, was known for her high-fashion choices, often appearing in dresses costing many hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

Yet despite its price tag, the Burberry coat is flying off the racks just like the blue Issa dress, which sold out within 24 hours of Kate’s appearance: The designer told the Windsor Knot that very few of the beige, belted wool trench remain in stock, and those only in certain sizes.

A gray model from the 2011 collection will be restocked. But sorry, Americans: If you want to dress like Kate, you'll have to head to Europe -- that coat isn’t yet available on this side of the pond.

  • 'Little Miss Princess' headed to the royal wedding

    Egmont Books Ltd

Looks like kids can finally get into the royal wedding hoopla! "Mr. Men" author Adam Hargreaves has revealed a new character – "Little Miss Princess" – to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. According to the book's description, the title character will deal with issues of tardiness:

"Little Miss Princess has been invited to a very special wedding - a royal wedding! But she's given her maids and butlers the day off work. Will she get there on time?"

This sounds like something Camilla would read to her granddaughter. (The Duchess of Cornwall prefers cautionary tales regarding royal wedding attendance.)

  • I can haz princess? Kate 'wins' the Internet

    katemiddletonforthewin.tumblr.com

Kate Middleton may have gotten a bit of press for her pancake-flipping skills, but she finally hit the jackpot: her very own funny Tumblr.

Kate Middleton for the Win posts photos of the future royal with hysterical commentary, such as one of the pretty Brit looking shocked that's accompanied by the caption “Goodness! Prince Andrew is bringing who to the wedding?”

The site's author, Anne Clark, was intrigued by Middleton, whom she thinks is such a perfect fit for a royal "it's almost eerie." With no shortage of paparazzi photos, creating a Tumblr seemed like the next logical step.

"I'm hugely fascinated by the monarchy," Clark told The Windsor Knot. "Like, do they use Facebook? Do they have bank accounts? Do they make their own sandwiches, ever?"

If Clark had a chance to meet the future royal, however, she'd be offering more praise than ridicule. In fact, if she could manage to say anything, it'd be directed at her style: "It would probably be 'I love your coats.' She's alway wearing the most gorgeous coats!"

  • Don't get stressed planning wedding, Hillary Clinton tells Wills and Kate

    /

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton celebrated the wedding of their daughter Chelsea Clinton to Marc Mezvinsky on July 31, 2010 in Rhinebeck, N.Y.

Don't get stressed and enjoy your big day, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton advised Prince William, fiancee Kate Middleton and their families ahead of the royal wedding next month.

Clinton’s daughter Chelsea got married last year in a ceremony dubbed "America's royal wedding," and said organizing an event which also attracts global interest is taxing.

"I can only tell you that the wedding itself was wonderful but the preparations, and I'm sure that they're feeling some of the same, can be stressful," she told Britain’s Sky News in an interview.

"You want it to be the most perfect day in your daughter's life and you just do everything you can to make it so. My advice is just enjoy it, enjoy it because it's (the) most extraordinary experience to see your daughter marrying someone who loves her, who wants to take care of her and you just want to be part of their happiness."

Asked if she would be watching William and Kate tie the knot at the April 29 ceremony in London on TV, she said: "Of course, of course, I love weddings."

  • Will and Kate flip pancakes in Northern Ireland

    Cathal Mcnaughton / Reuters

Britain’s hottest couple were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd on their first official visit to Northern Ireland on Tuesday, part of a pre-wedding tour of the U.K. It’s the first time that Prince William has been to Northern Ireland on an official visit and the presence of his bride was an added bonus for the gathered masses.

More than 100 women greeted a very relaxed Kate warmly as she made her way down the barricade, shaking hands and laughing with the masses.

“Very pretty,” she said, remarking on one woman’s daffodil pin. “They are all coming out now as well.”

“Yes they are,” the woman replied, taking off the pin and giving it to the obviously touched future princess.

The visit brought the center of Belfast to a standstill, and police kept a close watch on the pair as they made their way around the square outside the city hall. The palace kept the visit under-wraps due to security considerations. Sectarian violence has plagued Northern Ireland in the past and the royals weren't taking any chances.

The couple also flipped pancakes to mark Shrove Tuesday, also known in the U.K. as Pancake Day, when Brits take advantage of the last chance to indulge themselves on sugar, fat, eggs and other foods that they don’t eat during Lent.

It’s the third time in two weeks that the royal couple has been out and about after months of virtual seclusion. On Feb. 24, the pair christened a lifeboat in Anglesey, Wales, and a day later appeared at their alma mater, University of St. Andrews, in Scotland.

Kate looked stylish as usual in her a double-breasted cream-colored coat with a frill at the bottom, black tights and black high-heeled shoes.

  • Is Alexander McQueen's fashion house really designing Kate's gown?

    Getty Images

Has Kate Middleton finally picked a dress? (Or two?)

The future bride has reportedly chosen Sarah Burton, creative director of the Alexander McQueen fashion house, to design her dress, according to British press reports. Burton is a constant favorite of fashion risk-takers Lady Gaga and Sarah Jessica Parker, and she even designed Sara Buys' wedding dress when she married Camilla Duchess Of Cornwall's son Tom Parker Bowles.

Several newspapers have jumped on the rumors, despite the fact that both Burton and the company’s chief completely deny the exciting news. “We can confirm this story is untrue," a McQueen house publicist told The Associated Press.

While it seems like a dead end, it’s known that keeping details of the wedding gown a secret is essential for whoever snags the coveted position. British Fashion Council chief executive Caroline Rush told the AP that the chosen designer would be bound by the terms of the agreement to do everything possible to keep their role mum until Kate reveals it on April 29. "Whoever has the honor will be sure not to leak it, that's the agreement," Rush said.

As such, it wouldn’t seem terribly odd that Alexander McQueen would try its best to squash all rumors and mislead the media. Not that keeping a secret this big is any small feat: Elizabeth Emanuel, the designer of Diana’s iconic wedding dress, enforced strict security measures to protect her taffeta creation. Emanuel even locked the fluffy white dress in a safe every night to fend off reporters who snooped outside her doorstep and rummaged through trash bins.

"We used to leave bits of different colored threads and things to put them on the wrong track and we had to put blinds up so that people couldn't peer through the windows,” Emanuel told Reuters. “And we even had a spare dress hanging up just in case somebody did discover the secret."

But while McQueen would be a bold, chic choice for Kate – satisfying those who'd prefer she give her business to a British designer – other accomplished designers with just as many rumors are still out there. Bruce Oldfield, a favorite of Princess Diana's, has been at the top of the rumor list, especially as Kate’s family was seen visiting the designer's store last month. There’s also Daniella Issa Helayel of Issa, responsible for Kate’s popular sapphire blue engagement dress.

Until April 29, we’ll just have to keep up with the rumors.

  • Does new commemorative coin do royal couple justice?

    Reuters

Britain's Royal Mint has revealed another coin — this time, to honor next month’s royal wedding. While it’s certainly an improvement over the engagement coin, it’s still not a spitting image of Will and Kate. The two are pictured gazing into each other’s eyes, but William looks spacey while Kate is focused and toothy.

The £5 pound coin, which will become legal tender on March 16, has been approved by William, Queen Elizabeth and the government. "Public interest in this great event is already huge, and building every day, so we are anticipating massive demand for these official commemorative coins," the Royal Mint said on its website.

The last commemorative coin, produced in December, was also approved by the prince and the queen, but that didn’t stop fans of the royal family from expressing their disappointment.  The Washington Post thought it better resembled Barbara Bush and Al Gore, and even 98 percent of Windsor Knot readers voted that the coin looked nothing like the newly engaged couple.

  • Camilla prepares granddaughter for bridesmaid duties

    Getty

How is the Duchess of Cornwall training her 3-year-old granddaughter Eliza to perform at only the biggest wedding of the year? Camilla’s bridesmaid boot camp includes a tough reading schedule – of “Angelina and the Royal Wedding” from the “Angelina Ballerina” series, according to the U.K Daily Mail.

In the book, Angelina the mouse is preparing to be a bridesmaid at the summer palace of Mouseland. Ironically, the beloved rodent is so busy dancing that she completely forgets about the wedding and nearly misses the nuptials. (Perhaps it’s more of cautionary tale? Way to scare the kids, Camilla.)

    Amazon.com

Eliza is the child of Laura Lopes, Camilla's only daughter from her previous marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles. It’s reported that Camilla is quite the doting grandmother to her grandchildren, some of whom seem to need royal coaching. Other bridesmaids at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding will include:

    • Lady Louise Windsor, 7, daughter of William's uncle, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
    • The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, 8, the daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Linley and Prince William's second cousin. She first came into public spotlight in 2006, when she Prince William swung the delighted 4-year-old into the air as they were walking to church for Christmas Day service.
    • Grace van Cutsem, 3, godchild of Prince William. The royal family and the van Cutsems are reputedly very close and Prince William often stayed with the van Cutsems as a child.

Can you imagine the Osbourne clan – mumbling Ozzy, loud Sharon and cynical Kelly – being on their best behavior for Britain’s prized royal wedding?

    Neither can they.

"F--k no!" said Sharon Osbourne on whether she received a wedding invitation, according to E! Online. "I've got to work. Are you crazy?"

Don't count on Sharon's daughter Kelly Osbourne attending either. “I don't want to go," Kelly said. "I don't know them. Why would you go to someone's wedding you don't know? You'd be wedding crashers but like really five-star. Like, leave it out. I'm fine!"

It's a different sentiment than that shared earlier this week by fellow Brit Simon Cowell, who wondered if his invitation "got lost in the post."
