The latest work by micro-sculpture artist Willard Wigan, showing Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton in an eye of a needle. The work is on display at Castle Gallery at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. Wigan, an artist celebrated for his tiny creations, fashioned the piece, which can only be viewed through a microscope, from synthetic fibre and painted it using a single eyelash.

Cheesy homage: Papa John's makes royal wedding pizza

ASH PHOTOGRAPHY LTD / AFP - Getty Images

Papa John’s takes its slice of the royal wedding pie by making a mosaic pizza featuring an image of Prince William and Kate Middleton. A food artist helped create the pizza, using mushrooms for Kate’s veil, cheese for her dress and salami and peppers for William’s suit.

The chain is the latest of many to pay a tribute to the royal couple. While you can't actually order the royal pizza, you might use it as inspiration to unleash the food artist within you.

A pizza pie topped with the faces of Prince William and Kate Middleton was created by Papa John's Pizza in London and is being served in honor of the couple's wedding.

Does Kate Middleton's butcher shop make the cut?

    Matt Dunham / AP

Butcher Martin Fidler poses for a portrait inside his shop at Chapel Row in Bucklebury, England, Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011.

    By Caitlin Prentke, NBC News

Kate Middleton invited some regular folk to the wedding of the decade, including the village postman, a couple who run the corner store and the local butcher, Martin Fidler, who has had his shop for 30 years in Bucklebury, where Middleton grew up. To be fair, Fidler has been a minor celebrity in the past, referred to as a “Metric Martyr” in the British papers for refusing to adopt the metric system.

Our NBC News team paid a visit to Fidler’s shop, Bladebone Butchery, to see if his meat really makes the cut. The answer? A resounding “Yes!”

The butcher sold us one of his chickens for £12 (approximately $19) -- which makes it a relatively expensive chicken. It was definitely worth the cost. We stuffed it with garlic, half a lemon and some sprigs of rosemary, and rubbed butter on the skin so it would crisp up when we roasted it. On the side we had a pile of broad beans sauteed in butter. The bird was lovely, and even after almost two hours in the oven, the white breast meat was still moist.

A colleague also took home a chicken to poach. She commented on how little fat came to the surface of the broth, and how exceptionally tender and moist the meat was.

    NBC News

This image shows the outside of Fidler's butcher shop.

As a gesture, the butcher also gave us a couple of pork sausages. There is a general perception that British food isn't very good, but these meaty pork sausages were great. I ate them with baked beans for brunch -- it doesn't get much more British or delicious than that.

The experience was so good that we went back to Fidler's shop. The second time we bought some Italian style sausages, which we added to a tomato and cream sauce over pasta. They were so tender, they fell apart into the sauce when they were cooked -- the perfect little bits of subtly spiced meat mixed in with the tomatoes.

This is just what the butcher serves up on an ordinary day. However, some others in the village have come up with special treats for the wedding. The landlord of the Middletons' local pub has brewed a commemorative beer to celebrate the forthcoming event. It’s a fine ale, and the label has a picture of the happy couple printed on it.

Unfortunately, none of us can bear to ruin the memento by opening it and tasting it.

    The royal carriage awaits

    Dominic Lipinski / EPA

Carriage Restorer Dave Evans cleans the 1902 State Landau carriage at the Royal Mews in central London, UK on March 21. The coach will be used to carry Prince William and Kate Middleton on their wedding day, 29 April, as long as the weather is good.

After their wedding ceremony on April 29, Kate Middleton and Prince William will ride in an open-topped 1902 State Landau horse-drawn carriage for the procession back to Buckingham Palace, unless inclement weather leads them to use the famed "Glass Coach," which has a fixed roof to keep rain at bay.

The 1902 State Landau, housed at the Royal Mews near Buckingham Palace, was built for King Edward VII for use at his coronation. It is typically used by the queen to meet foreign heads of state on official visits to Britain. Prince Charles used it to travel to St. Paul's Cathedral for his 1981 wedding, leaving the cathedral with Princess Diana.

Read more about the wedding plans or watch Michelle Kosinski's special report for NBC's TODAY:

Though Kate Middleton is breaking tradition by arriving in a car to her nuptials, she and her royal husband will be shown off like jewels in a post-wedding carriage ride to the reception. NBC's Michelle Kosinski reports.

Royal couple get roasted in a 'fork-trait'

    Crown Carveries via EPA

    By Vidya Rao, TODAY

It’s a roast of the royal couple! U.K. restaurant and pub chain Crown Carveries re-created the engagement portrait of Prince William and Kate Middleton using only dinner table delights. Carrots, corn and peas make up the background, while turkey is used for the couple’s skin. Topping it all off, the engagement ring is made with – what else? – gravy.

It took food artist Prudence Staite more than two hours to serve up the "fork-trait," reports The Publican, a newspaper for the U.K.’s bar and pub industry.

“We wanted to produce the first official ‘fork-trait’ using all the majestic ingredients found on one of our princely banquets – a roast with all the trimmings – to give the happy couple a tasteful memento of their special day,” the operations director of Crown Carveries told the paper.

Who else would you want to see in a "fork-trait"?
